The University of Liberia (UL) has officially launched activities marking its 105th Commencement Convocation, ushering in nearly two weeks of academic ceremonies, research exhibitions and celebratory events across its campuses.
The convocation began on February 16 with an Art and Craft Exhibition at the university’s Fendall Campus, setting the tone for a series of programs honoring academic achievement and institutional excellence.
Announcing the calendar of events, UL Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chairperson of the 105th Convocation Committee, Dr. Agnes Reeves Taylor, said more than 1,500 students who have satisfied all academic and financial requirements will be awarded degrees in various disciplines. The candidates were cleared by the Faculty Senate, the institution’s highest academic decision-making body.
Calendar of Events
The schedule includes a Research Symposium hosted by the College of Gender & Interdisciplinary Research on February 17, followed by the Faculty Scholastic Recognition and Honoring Program on February 19.
The UL Alumni Homecoming Program and Graduating Class Night are slated for February 20 at the Capitol Hill Campus, while the University of Liberia Staff Association Day will be observed on February 21.
The College of Health Sciences will conduct Oaths and Honors on February 23, and the UL Faculty Association Day will take place on February 28.
The Undergraduate Combined Commencement Convocation is set for Wednesday, February 25, at the Fendall Campus.
The Graduate and Professional Schools Commencement will follow on Friday, February 27.
All events will be held at the Fendall Campus, except for the Alumni Homecoming Program and Graduating Class Night, which will take place at the Capitol Hill Campus in Monrovia.
International Keynote Speaker
Prof. Dr. David Norris, Vice Chancellor of the University of Botswana, will deliver the keynote address at the Graduate and Professional Schools Commencement on February 27 at the Fendall Campus.
University officials say high-profile local and international dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremonies as guests of the institution.
The 105th graduating class has adopted the name “The Class of Triumph,” reflecting what university authorities describe as resilience, determination and academic accomplishment.
Founded in 1862, the University of Liberia remains Liberia’s premier public university, playing a central role in the country’s higher education landscape.
