The protest reportedly stemmed from grievances raised by health workers at the facility.

According to Police spokesperson Sam K. Collins, the situation prompted immediate action to maintain public order and prevent disruption to hospital operations and surrounding communities.

On Monday, DCP Collins, said officers acted promptly to stabilize the situation.

“The Liberia National Police has swiftly intervened following a protest action by nurses and support staff at Phebe Hospital in Bong County, successfully restoring calm and ensuring that the situation remains fully under control,” Collins said.

He emphasized that the police response focused on preventing violence while protecting lives and property.

“The Liberia National Police remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while encouraging peaceful dialogue as the appropriate means of addressing concerns,” Collins added.

According to authorities, the Director General of the Civil Service Agency is currently engaged in discussions with the aggrieved workers in an effort to reach an amicable resolution.
