AG Sits on High-Profile Panel in Peru

The Auditor General of Liberia, Mr. P. Garswa Jackson Sr., last week honored a special invitation from the Office of the Auditor General of Peru to serve as an expert panelist at the International Summit on Fighting Against Corruption hosted in Lima, Peru.

The summit, held in Lima, brought together heads of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), anti-corruption experts and development partners from across Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia to examine emerging tools and strategies to combat complex cross-border corruption.

Mr. Jackson, who heads Liberia’s General Auditing Commission, anchored his presentation on practical case studies drawn from two data-driven audits conducted by his institution. Framing his intervention around the theme of technological transformation in public sector oversight, he detailed the methodologies employed, the analytical tools used, and the measurable outcomes achieved.

He emphasized the shift from traditional compliance-based controls to intelligent, risk-focused auditing powered by data analytics. According to participants, the presentation resonated strongly with delegates seeking cost-effective and scalable technological solutions, particularly in jurisdictions where digital transformation in public auditing remains at an early stage.

The practical orientation of his remarks prompted further engagement, including a formal interview session and a side meeting requested by representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions of Senegal and Eswatini.

Discussions centered on knowledge exchange, institutional capacity building, and potential collaboration in strengthening audit methodologies through technology.

Mr. Jackson’s participation in Lima marks another milestone in Liberia’s growing visibility within the global accountability community. He recently addressed the 2025 Congress of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI) in Egypt, the 2024 General Assembly of the African Organization of English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions in Libya, and the INTOSAI Donor Cooperation Conference in Romania in 2024.

These engagements underscore Liberia’s active role in international audit and anti-corruption platforms under the umbrella of INTOSAI, the global body that fosters cooperation among SAIs.

The Lima summit concluded with renewed commitments among participating countries to strengthen collaboration, harness digital tools, and reinforce transparency mechanisms in the global fight against corruption.
