The Catholic Archdiocese of Monrovia has, with a heavy heart, announced the sudden death of Very Reverend Father Alphonsus B. Mombo, Rector of St. Charles Lwanga Pre-Major Seminary, Pipeline.
He served the Archdiocese faithfully and generously, particularly in the formation of young men preparing for the priesthood.
Mombo’s dedication to the church and his commitment to priestly formation will always be remembered with gratitude.
“At this moment of sorrow, we entrust him to the loving mercy of God.
“May the Lord console the Archdiocese of Monrovia, St. Charles Lwanga Pre-Major Seminary family, and his biological family.
“During this time, priests and faithful of the Archdiocese are kindly asked to celebrate Holy Mass for the repose of his soul and to offer the Rosary in prayer for him.
“Further information regarding the funeral arrangements will be communicated later.
“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace,” wrote Very Rev. Fr. Ambrose Kroma, vicar-general and moderator of the Curia, on 12 March.
