Bukon Jadeh Group of Companies, Liberia’s premier microfinance organization, have a signed a L$500,000 sponsorship agreement with D-Rockas Basketball Club.
Bukon Jadeh chief executive officer Elton Datee Johns and D-Rockas Vice President Abraham Dolley signed the deal for a season in Monrovia on 19 March.
Johns, speaking at the signing ceremony, narrated how the company started from a humble beginning with a little more than L$10,000.
He said the sponsorship is part of their corporate social responsibilities to society.
“This is intended to give women and girls a platform to express their skills and keep them from unwholesome acts like prostitution and drug abuse,” said Elton.
For his part, Dolley recounted how Bukon Jadeh have been their premier sponsor beginning with L$200,000.
“Every season, there is a renewed commitment in the deal. And we hope that we can live up to this commitment in making sure that we empower young ladies who have the desires of playing basketball to improve their athletic sojourn in Liberia,” explained Dorley.
This brings to two the deals signed in this month after Bukon Jadeh and Determine Girls Football Club inked a three million Liberian dollars (L$3,000,000) sponsorship agreement on 3 March.
