(Boston, Massachusetts- USA) Friday March 20, 2026: The Director of the Department of Multilateral Environmental Agreements at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia, Arthur R.M. Becker, has successfully completed an intensive Executive Program in Climate Change and Energy: Policy Making for the Long Term held from March 15–20, 2026, at the Harvard University Kennedy School (HKS) in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
This one-week, in-person program brought together a diverse group of experienced policymakers, climate change scientists, private sector leaders, energy experts, NGO representatives amongst others from countries including Liberia, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Barbados, Ecuador, South Africa, Ghana, New Zealand, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Nigeria, and Nepal.
The rigorous and intensive training provided participants with valuable insights into critical areas such as understanding climate change and its economic dimensions, long-term energy policy planning, sustainable development strategies, and global environmental governance frameworks.
Upon his return home, Mr. Becker emphasized his commitment to applying the knowledge and skills gained to strengthen Liberia’s climate policy, enhance international environmental cooperation, and support sustainable energy initiatives that benefit present and future generations.
Mr. Becker has expressed sincere gratitude to the Harvard Kennedy School for awarding him a fully funded (100%) scholarship through the Kistefos African Public Service Fellowship. He also extended appreciation to Dr. Emmanuel King Urey Yarkpawolo, Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia, and the entire EPA family for their unwavering support in making his participation possible.
Notably, Arthur R.M. Becker was the only Liberian who participated in the 2026 cohort of the program. Successful participants of the program are recognized as alumni of Harvard University upon completing the course, joining a global network of leaders committed to advancing impactful policy solutions.
