Guinean flag still hoisted on Liberian soil as Lofa County Superintendent calls for calm

Guinean flag is still hoisted while armed Guinean soldiers remain positioned on Liberia’s territory near Kondadu Port of Entry in Quardu Gboni District, Lofa County, northern Liberia.

The Superintendent of Lofa County, Mr. J. Lavelah Massaquoi along with his entourage, visited the site today for the second time and was seen engaged with Guinean soldiers in the area.

Superintendent Massaquoi called for calm and dispelled social media reports that Guinean soldiers had removed the demarcation cornerstone at the Liberia-Guinea border in the Kondadu–Moijahro region. He also warned against misinformation.

Even though an MRU emergency summit was held on March 16, 2026 where all parties agreed to return to status quo, the Guinean soldiers have yet to withdraw from Liberian territories both at the Sorlumba and Kondadu borders.

More details to follow.
