“Assasination Attempt on My Life” — Foko Takes Police IG To Task

By Emmanuel M. Kangar Jr.

Monrovia, Liberia — Montserrado County District 9 Representative Frank Saah Foko Jr. has formally accused Police Inspector Gregory Coleman of involvement in what he described as an attempted assassination during a confrontation in Wroto Town, Airfield.

In a complaint addressed to House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, Foko alleged that officers of the Liberia National Police assaulted and tear-gassed him and residents on March 31 while he was intervening in a land dispute affecting his constituents.

Foko claimed the incident forms part of a broader pattern of harassment, citing previous allegations linking him to the Capitol Building arson case and a 2024 security operation at his residence. He argued that the latest confrontation amounts to intimidation and poses a threat to his life, given his role as an opposition figure.

The lawmaker has called for an independent legislative inquiry, the summoning of top police officials, and enhanced security protection for himself and his family.

He urged the Legislature to act swiftly, warning that the incident raises serious concerns about abuse of power and the protection of elected officials in Liberia.
