River Cess County – A devastating road accident in Gbediah Town on Sunday night has claimed the lives of two people and left another critically injured, following a head-on collision between a black Boxer motorbike and a Land Cruiser Jeep bearing license plate A614858.

The tragic incident occurred at approximately 10:00 PM on April 5, sending shockwaves through the local community.

According to police reports, the Land Cruiser Jeep—allegedly owned by the Palm Group of Company—was discovered at the scene carrying parcels of marijuana and other suspected narcotic substances. Authorities have yet to confirm the origin or intended destination of the items.

The driver of the Jeep fled the scene immediately after the crash and remains at large, as law enforcement officers intensify efforts to locate and apprehend him.

The first victim, 20-year-old Blessing D Sumo, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has since been deposited at a funeral home in Yarpah.

Meanwhile, the two male victims who sustained critical injuries were rushed to the River Cess District Hospital in Gbediah Town for treatment and later transfered to JFK. However, one of them, identified only as George (Jolo), was pronounced dead on Monday morning by doctors at JFK Medical Center in Monrovia—bringing the total number of fatalities to two.

The remaining victim continues to receive medical care in critical condition.

Police say a full-scale investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the accident, including the alleged involvement of illegal substances. Authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
