The Ministry of Youth and Sports has suspended three senior officials of the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) as part of an ongoing internal investigation expected to conclude within one month.

Those suspended are Director Wilfred Payne, Finance Officer Hamilton Faryah, and Admissions Officer Kenneh Lawson, according to an official statement issued Monday from the Ministry’s headquarters at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville.

The Ministry also announced interim appointments to ensure continuity of operations at the institution.

Alieu Kemokai has been named Acting Director General for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), while Cyrus Zizi and Kaema Jones will serve as Acting Director and Acting Administrator of MVTC, respectively.

In its statement, the Ministry emphasized that the suspensions are intended to uphold governance standards within the sector.

“The following suspended officials are subjected to an ongoing internal investigation, which is expected to be completed within a period of one month,” the Ministry said.

“These actions underscore the Ministry’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and the effective delivery of technical and vocational education services across Liberia.”

The Ministry did not disclose the nature of the allegations prompting the investigation but noted that the acting appointments are aimed at maintaining stability and ensuring uninterrupted service delivery during the review period.

The MVTC plays a critical role in Liberia’s workforce development strategy, providing technical and vocational training opportunities to young people nationwide.

The outcome of the investigation is expected to have broader implications for institutional governance and oversight within the country’s TVET system.
