U.S. President Donald Trump has escalated tensions with Iran, warning that the country could face overwhelming military action if it fails to meet a Tuesday deadline set by Washington.
Speaking to journalists at the White House, Trump declared that the United States has the capability to destroy Iran in a single night.
“The entire country can be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night,” he said, stressing the urgency of the situation.
The remarks come as Trump reaffirmed his 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time deadline for Iran to comply with U.S. demands, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route.
He indicated that the deadline was final, adding that Iran had already been given multiple extensions during ongoing negotiations.
The statement marks a sharp escalation in rhetoric amid rising tensions between the two countries, with concerns growing internationally over the possibility of imminent military confrontation.
