A devastating fire tore through the Police Support Unit (PSU) base of the Liberia National Police situated within the Liberian Agricultural Company (LAC) plantation in Grand Bassa County’s Wee District.
Eyewitnesses recounted how the flames rapidly engulfed the structure, causing thick plumes of smoke to rise above the plantation’s tree line.
Quick to respond, firefighters from the LAC fire brigade arrived at the scene promptly, utilizing hoses to combat the blaze. Images captured during the incident depicted a red LAC-branded fire truck navigating the dusty plantation roads as workers and bystanders looked on.
As of Monday, April 6, 2026, authorities confirmed that there were no reported injuries or casualties resulting from the fire. However, concerns have been raised regarding the potential impacts on security operations at the LAC plantation, a significant economic hub in the region.
Despite the extent of the damage, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Both the Liberia National Police and LAC management have refrained from issuing official statements regarding the incident.
An investigation into the origin and circumstances surrounding the fire is expected to begin shortly.
