Several former national team players received the green light to coach as the Liberia Football Association (LGFA) officially climaxed the CAF ‘D’ Diploma Coaching Course on 7 April.
Anthony Laffor, Zah Kranger, Vitalis Sie and Blama Kamara were part of 100 participants, who were divided into two batches.
The course was solely focused on grassroots football development as it is set by CAF teaching curriculum.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, LFA President Mustapha Raji highlighted the importance of supporting former national team players and providing them with the opportunity to grow in coaching.
Raji also commended FIFA, CAF and Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) for the support provided for the actualization of the training program.
“This is a combination of support from the FIFA Forward Program and another part to the development fund received from the Liberia Maritime Authority. We were able to support life after football program specific to our former national team players at zero cost for the course,” Raji said.
He reaffirmed that the LFA will provide additional training opportunities at all levels and also called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to integrate more former national team players into its programs.
Deputy Sports Minister Andy Quamie congratulated the participants and urged them to remain professional and focused in their aspiring coaching journey.
CAF ‘D’ Diploma Coaching Course serves as an entry-level coaching qualification focused on grassroots and youth football development.
It is designed to equip beginner coached with the fundamental technical, tactical, and managerial skills needed to effectively train young players.
