Nimba County lawmaker Musa Hassan Bility has raised alarm over what he describes as a credible effort to remove fellow legislator Yekeh Kolubah from office, warning that such actions could threaten Liberia’s democratic stability.
“The plot to remove Hon. Yekeh Kolubah is clear and real,” Bility said in a statement. “Sadly, we are entering a dangerous phase of our democratic governance.”
Kolubah, a prominent and often outspoken member of the House of Representatives, has spoken on the planned plot against him, but has refused to remain silent in the house.
Observers say the development could heighten political tensions within the legislature if not addressed promptly.
The allegations come amid growing concerns about political divisions and the state of democratic institutions in the country.
