Liberia Signs Landmark Deal for 1,000-Hectare ‘New City’ Development

Monrovia, Liberia — The Government of Liberia has taken a major step toward transforming the nation’s urban landscape with the signing of a historic agreement to develop a modern “New City” and Micro City project.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed on Thursday, April 9, 2026, brings together the Government and TAF Africa Global for an ambitious project spanning approximately 1,000 hectares of land.

The agreement was formalized by Jeff Blibo, Chairman of the National Investment Commission (NIC), who signed on behalf of the Government of Liberia, and Mustapha Njie, Chief Executive Officer of TAF Africa Global, representing the developer.

The project is expected to generate employment opportunities, promote sustainable urban planning, and provide a high-quality living environment for citizens.

According to authorities, the envisioned “New City” will incorporate smart technologies, modern amenities, and a blend of affordability and luxury, positioning it as a model for future urban development in the region.

Government representatives emphasized that the partnership reflects a broader commitment to economic growth and innovation, while also addressing housing and infrastructure needs.
