A 19-member Liberian football delegation that departed Liberia a day ago, Monday, April 27, 2026 via Roberts International Airport, has finally arrived in the People’s Republic of China

The delegation, selected from the just-ended National County Sports Meet by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and sponsored by the Chinese Embassy, will participate in the 2026 Village Super League.

The village Super League is a transformative grassroots movement that drives rural revitalization, boosts local economies through massive sports tourism, and preserves cultural traditions.

Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu said during the launch of the event in Monrovia,”Liberia and China are separated by vast oceans, but have a lasting, enduring history of people-to-people and state relations. China and Liberia relations have taken root through mutual support, flourished through solidarity and cooperation with close exchanges between its peoples.”

The delegation will return to Liberia from China on May 4, 2026.
