The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged and forwarded to the Monrovia City Court a 27-year-old man, Thomas S. Lahun, in connection with the death of a woman identified as Annette Suah.

Lahun is facing charges of manslaughter and negligent homicide following an investigation into the incident, which reportedly occurred on April 23, 2026, at a residence in Gaye Town, Old Road, Sinkor.

According to the police charge sheet dated May 6, 2026, investigators alleged that Lahun “recklessly and negligently” caused the death of Suah at his father’s residence.

The police document, referenced as “Cis#237-2026” and “RID #190-2026,” said the charges were brought under Chapter 14, Sections 14.2(a) and 14.3 of Liberia’s revised Penal Code.

Police said Lahun and the deceased spent several hours together at a bar on Cheeseman Avenue before leaving for his father’s house in Gaye Town.

“They spent some time together drinking beer and smoking Shi-Sha together until 9:30 a/m when the Bar was about to close.

They decided to go at defendant Thomas S. Lahun father’s place on the Old Road to have some intimate time together.”

Investigators said that after arriving at the residence, Suah later decided to take a shower while Lahun remained in another room using his cellphone.

“After several minutes and not noticing any movement or hearing any sound, he first called out to Annette but got no respond. When he entered the bathroom [he] met victim Annette lying down in the bath tub unconscious with foam oozing from her mouth.”

Police said Lahun attempted to revive Suah and later contacted a friend identified as Kenny, who allegedly advised him to either take her to the hospital or report the matter to the police.

However, investigators claimed he failed to seek immediate medical help or inform anyone nearby about the situation.

“He removed the bed floor and laid the victim on the floor and covered her with the bed floor and mattress.”

According to the charge sheet, the body was later discovered by Lahun’s father, Emmanuel S. Lahun, after he noticed a foul odor coming from the room.

“While checking the room, he discovered the unconscious body of a female lying under his bed.”

Police said the discovery led to Lahun’s arrest on April 24, 2026.

Investigators also alleged that after the incident, Lahun left the scene without informing his father or anyone else about what had happened.

“Predicated upon the above findings defendant Thomas S. Lahun has been charge[d] for the commission of the crimes of Manslaughter and Negligent Homicide… and have him forwarded to court for adjudication.”

The document was signed by investigator Halvin A. Page of the Crime against Persons Unit of the Crime Services Department of the Liberia National Police.

The case is expected to proceed before the Monrovia City Court. Authorities have not yet released any medical examiner’s report regarding the exact cause of death.

Under Liberian law, the defendant remains presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
