This is an update from inside the Court.
The fifteen-member panel jury is now seated, the case has been called and final legal representations are being made.
There was an earlier altercation between one of the spectators, a CDC official Garyeazohn Aba Davies, and the court sheriff.
The judge has remanded Davies to 30 days imprisonment.
The judge has called for a side-bar. A side bar is where the judge called both parties to have a consultation.
The judge has allotted 1.5 hours to each party to present their theory.
A key point struck by the prosecution lawyer, Cllr. Garlawolo, is that: defendants in the dock have failed to prove as to whether there was a national security council meeting heard before the disbursement of the US$6.2 million. According to him, the normal procedure for the disbursement of the funds were never followed.
Cllr. Garlawolo is also arguing that the former National Security Advisor Jefferson Karmoh was never in the country when the transactions took place on September 8, 2023. However, the former acting Justice Minister testified that he called Jefferson Karmoh on the phone, something which the prosecution believes that it’s not possible.
The stage is now given to the defense team led by Cllr. Arthur Johnson to start the defense’s theory to the jury. Cllr. Johnson is now admonishing the panel jury for performing their constitution duty.
