The Liberian President, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has finally receiveed a draft legislation to establish a War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia.
The ceremony, which took place at the Executive Mansion in Monrovia today, brought together leaders of the Office for the establishment of a War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia (OWECC-L), chiefs and elders of the National Traditional Council, victims of the Liberian civil war, government officials, among others.
If the draft legislation is passed, perpetrators of Liberia’s long years of civil war and economic crimes could be made to fully account for their actiions thorugh a specialized war and economic crimes court.
