Erradi takes over as Liberia coach for three years with no mandates

By Danesius Marteh,

Mohammed Adil Erradi, a Belgian-Moroccan, has been unveiled as Liberia head coach on a three-year contract.

But there were no specific mandates disclosed during the ceremony attended by Youth & Sports Minister Cornelia Kruah, Liberia Football Association (LFA) President Mustapha Ishola Raji and secretary-general Emmett Crayton and national mobilization committee chairman Luther Tarpeh at the LFA headquarters on Monday.

Neither Raji nor Kruah disclosed what specific mandates were given to Erradi, who has promised to build a highly competitive team that can compete in Africa.

Erradi admitted that he had come to work in a country that produced the first and only African to win the World Best in former President George Manneh Weah.

“I have a lot of motivation to do something, especially with the Liberia national team. Liberia is a big country for football. Liberia has big history [in football].

“I will have to build a very competitive team, which has capacity to win in Monrovia and also to be difficult to lose outside Monrovia.

“I think this is the key of success to have qualification to the next major competition,” said Erradi.

Erradi, who holds a Uefa Pro License, has managed mostly clubs, including KACM Marrakech, Raja Casablanca and Ittihad Tanger of Morocco and APR FC of Rwanda.

It isn’t clear if Erradi will import his backroom staff or be told to work with Liberians.

But Sebastian Collins, LFA transfers matching system manager and Raji’s special assistant, will continue as administrative manager.

The draw for the group stage of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be held on 19 May.
