The Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) and Secretary General of Liberia’s ruling Unity Party, Amos Tweh, has been elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) after securing the highest number of votes at the association’s congress.
According to preliminary results announced following the voting process, Tweh obtained 38 votes, the highest among candidates contesting for positions on the football governing body’s Executive Committee.
The election is being viewed by many football stakeholders as a significant development in Liberian football administration, given Tweh’s growing influence in both national politics and sports management.
Following his victory, Amos Tweh took to social media to express appreciation to delegates and football clubs for the confidence reposed in him.
“Winning as Executive Committee member of the Liberia Football Association with the highest number of votes (38) is both humbling and a resounding call to serve,” Tweh wrote.
He continued: “Thank you to the delegates for the huge confidence and trust, to my team for the work, and to every club for your belief in a better football future. Let’s get to work.”
Supporters and political allies of the Unity Party have since congratulated Tweh on the achievement, describing it as a reflection of his leadership abilities and commitment to sports development in Liberia.
The Liberia Football Association Congress brought together delegates from clubs and football institutions across the country to participate in key electoral and administrative decisions affecting the future of Liberian football.
Observers say Tweh’s overwhelming vote count could position him as an influential figure within the LFA leadership structure, particularly as the association continues efforts to strengthen domestic football, youth development, and national team performance.
