MONROVIA – Ambassador Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh has declared that he will not apologize or retract his recent statement alleging that members of the Liberian Legislature accept bribes.

In a strongly worded response to the House of Representatives, which reportedly demanded an apology, Kouyateh maintained his position and said he was prepared to face any consequences arising from his remarks.

“Your Excellency, I will not apologize nor retract my statement as demanded by the House of Representatives. I am prepared to face any consequences that may arise from my decision,” Kouyateh stated.

The ambassador’s remarks come amid growing controversy over his allegations, which have drawn sharp reactions from lawmakers and the public.

The House of Representatives has not yet publicly announced its next course of action regarding Kouyateh’s refusal to apologize
