Margibi County – Abraham Delleh Wala and several other participants have successfully completed an intensive 10-day Basic AVSEC STP 123 Course conducted by Gelena Aviation Security Consultancy Firm, marking a significant step in strengthening aviation security awareness and professional competence in Liberia.

The training, which focused on Aviation Security (AVSEC), equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical skills required to support the safety and security of civil aviation operations. The course was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of modern aviation security standards and procedures in line with international best practices.
Among the key objectives of the training were helping participants understand the nature of threats to civil aviation, gain knowledge of civil aviation from international, regional, and national perspectives, and learn how to work safely within airport environments.

Participants were also trained in guarding and patrolling airport operational facilities, vulnerable areas, and aircraft, as well as communicating and cooperating effectively with other airport agencies.

Additionally, the course enhanced participants’ ability to identify restricted articles, including weapons, explosive devices, incendiary materials, and other prohibited items that could pose threats to aviation security.

The intensive training program was facilitated by Mr. George S. Wright, a Certified Aviation Security (AVSEC) Instructor and Chief Executive Officer of Gelena Aviation Security Consultancy Firm.

The firm is based in Robertsfield, Lower Margibi County, and is known for providing professional aviation security training and consultancy services.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates during the closing ceremony, the participants expressed gratitude to the institution and its instructors for the valuable knowledge gained throughout the program.
“Today marks a significant milestone in our professional journey. Over the past ten days, this intensive training has significantly enhanced our knowledge and skills through the twelve comprehensive modules presented,” the graduates said in a statement.

They noted that the lessons learned provided them with a deeper appreciation of aviation security standards, procedures, and best practices that are essential to the effective functioning of the aviation sector.
“As we celebrate this achievement, it is important for us to reflect on the dedication, discipline, and perseverance that brought us to this moment and remain focused on our aspirations and committed to advancing both our individual careers and the broader aviation industry of our beloved Republic,” the statement added.

The graduation ceremony highlighted the growing importance of professional training in ensuring aviation safety and security as Liberia continues efforts to strengthen its aviation sector and align with international standards.
