MONROVIA – President Joseph Boakai is expected to commission a 20 Megawatt-peak (MWp) Solar Power Plant this afternoon at the Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant in Harrisburg, Montserrado County.
The commissioning forms part of the government’s efforts to expand Liberia’s electricity generation capacity and improve access to reliable energy across the country.
The solar facility, located at the Mount Coffee Hydropower site, is expected to complement existing power generation and strengthen the national grid.
Government officials say the project represents a significant step toward increasing renewable energy production and supporting Liberia’s broader energy development agenda.
The ceremony is expected to bring together senior government officials, development partners, energy sector stakeholders, and local residents.
