Road to 2029: Dr. William Towah Set to Challenge Senator Zoe Pennue

By Abraham D. Cooper

Former Director of Administration and Finance at the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice, Chief Dr. William Deah Deiyan Towah, has signaled his intention to contest the 2029 senatorial election in Grand Gedeh County, setting the stage for a political showdown with incumbent Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue.

Speaking to supporters, Dr. Towah said his decision was inspired by a deep concern for the welfare and development of his home county.

“The Lord spoke to me: What you are seeing today in your homeland, are you happy? Are you satisfied?” Towah recounted. “The next morning, I woke up and that question came back to me. I wondered and pondered. If a county has good representation, it means that county will be well served.”

The former ECOWAS official emphasized the importance of effective leadership and representation in advancing development and improving the lives of citizens.

Though the election is still several years away, Towah’s declaration has already generated discussion across Grand Gedeh’s political landscape, with many observers viewing his potential candidacy as a significant challenge to Senator Pennue’s bid for another term.

The 2029 senatorial race is expected to be closely watched as political activities gradually take shape in the county.
