ZWEDRU, Grand Gedeh County – Concern gripped the Grand Gedeh University (GGU) community on Monday afternoon after two female students, including a senior student leader, were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in Garlo-Ville Community Konobo highway.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. when a vehicle carrying Dorcas Dweh, Vice President of the Grand Gedeh University Student Council Government, and Vivian Doe, a university alumna who recently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (BSc) program, overturned while traveling from campus following the day’s academic activities.
Eyewitnesses told verity news that the vehicle suddenly lost control and flipped onto the driver’s side, leaving both occupants trapped inside the wreckage.
Residents of Garlo-Ville and nearby motorcyclists quickly mobilized to the scene, rescuing the victims before transporting them to the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital for emergency medical attention.
As of press time, hospital authorities and university officials had not released an official statement regarding the condition of the two students. The cause of the accident also remains under investigation.
The incident has sparked concern across the university community, with students, faculty members, and well wishers expressing hopes for the full recovery of the victims.
University authorities say they are closely monitoring the situation as the campus awaits further updates on the health status of the injured students.
