Trump Announces Reopening of Strait of Hormuz Following Reported Peace Deal with Iran

United States President Donald Trump has announced what he described as the completion of a peace agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, declaring the immediate reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz and the removal of a U.S. naval blockade in the region.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump celebrated the reported breakthrough and authorized the unrestricted passage of vessels through one of the world’s most important maritime oil routes.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!” Trump wrote. “I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, serves as a critical gateway for global energy supplies, with a significant portion of the world’s oil exports passing through the narrow waterway. Any disruption to shipping activities in the area has historically raised concerns about global energy markets and international trade.

Trump’s announcement comes amid heightened international attention on tensions in the Middle East and the impact of regional conflicts on oil prices and maritime security. The U.S. president did not immediately provide details regarding the terms of the reported agreement with Iran or the mechanisms that would ensure its implementation.

As of press time, Iranian authorities had not publicly responded to Trump’s statement, and further details regarding the reported peace deal remained unavailable.
