MONROVIA – Political commentator Martina Konateh has renewed her criticism of former Liberian President George Weah, insisting that she has no regrets about the remarks she made regarding his administration while he was in office.
Speaking during a recent public discussion, Konateh argued that the Weah administration failed to adequately address key national issues, particularly the growing drug crisis that affected many Liberian families.
According to her, while communities struggled with the impact of drug abuse and parents worried about their children, the former president remained focused on music and social media activities.
“The people were dying from drugs; mothers were crying everywhere, but George Weah would jump in the studio to sing songs and go on Facebook,” Konateh said.
She also criticized Weah’s handling of a case involving the death of a Liberian citizen allegedly caused by a foreign national, claiming the administration failed to ensure accountability.
“You think I regret what I said about George Weah? I have no regret. I have no regret because it actually happened,” she declared.
Konateh’s remarks are the latest in a series of criticisms directed at the former president’s record in office, as debates continue over the successes and shortcomings of his administration.
