MONROVIA – Former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah has rejected Criminal Court “C”’s decision setting aside his not-guilty verdict over allegations of jury tampering, declaring that he will not submit to any further judicial proceedings, including an appeal before the Supreme Court.
In a statement issued following the court’s ruling, Tweah described the decision as “a gigantic step backwards” for Liberia’s justice system and democracy, insisting that his acquittal remains valid and cannot be reversed.
Tweah characterized the ruling as a “kangaroo ruling” and said he has instructed his legal team not to file any appeal before the Supreme Court, arguing that his legal battle ended with the jury’s not-guilty verdict.
He further asserted that the matter has moved beyond the courts into the political arena, maintaining that he remains “a free man.”
The ruling by Criminal Court “C” came after the court ordered the arrest of all 15 jurors and set aside the acquittal, citing allegations of jury tampering.
