President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has ordered the dismissal, suspension, and investigation of several government and law enforcement officials in connection with ongoing narcotics trafficking investigations, the Executive Mansion announced on Thursday, July 30.
Among those dismissed are Mark Egon Kuiah, Deputy Director for Operations at the Roberts International Airport (RIA); Johnny Bolar Dean, Commissioner of Police for Criminal Investigation, Intelligence and INTERPOL; and Patrick Doe, Deputy Director for Administration at the National Security Agency (NSA).
The President also recalled Patrick Komasu from his assignment at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), suspended him without pay, and ordered an investigation.
Additionally, Boakai directed the dismissal of government employees and security personnel indicted in connection with the seizure of 198 plates of processed cocaine at the RIA and 3,971 plates of cocaine confiscated from two foreign nationals. Those affected include Mohammed O. Gbowrah, Director of Security at RIA, and Moses Jallah, Deputy Commander of the LDEA at the airport.
Two Liberia National Police officers, Anthony T. Blaye and Wadell W. Kwarbo, were also dismissed for allegedly using government vehicles to transport narcotics.
The President further dismissed NSA agents Jammel V. Jallah, Christian L. Nyantee, Albenigo Janior, and Caycee Nelson, Procurement Director at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, directing that they be turned over to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution.
President Boakai said the actions underscore his administration’s commitment to accountability, the rule of law, and a zero-tolerance approach to narcotics trafficking and related criminal activities.
