Liberia – The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has dismissed its Procurement Director, Mr. Caycee Nelson, with immediate effect after his indictment in connection with the alleged US$317 million drug trafficking case.
The dismissal follows a directive from the Executive Mansion, where President Joseph Nyuma Boakai ordered the immediate removal of all government officials and security personnel indicted in the ongoing narcotics investigation. Those dismissed include officials from the Roberts International Airport, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, the National Security Agency and the Liberia National Police.
In a public announcement issued on July 30, the Gender Ministry said Nelson’s indictment violates the standards of public service and damages the institution’s integrity. He has been ordered to surrender all ministry assets, while his access to ministry offices, networks, emails and databases has been revoked.
President Boakai said no public official involved in criminal conduct would remain in government service and vowed to ensure all those implicated face prosecution in accordance with the law.
