According to journalist Franklin Doloquee, a 38-year-old woman is currently receiving medical treatment in Nimba after an alleged prolonged sexual encounter with her partner left her requiring hospitalization. Multiple reports hinted that “brown tap” was used.
A Liberian environmentalist Innis is calling on the Liberian government to ban the “brown tap” drink from the market due to public health risks.
Research:
According to a Research done by Verity News, Mai Sasanci commonly known in Liberia as brown tap, is a traditionally formulated herbal liquid intended to enhance sexual performance in men. It also helps to fight weak erection, overcome impotence, boost sperm count, eradicate waist pain, increase libido and enhance longer sex, as stated by its producer.
Mai Sasanci alias brown tap is a mixture of ficus carica, detarium senegalensea, honey, and water.
Ficus carica is a deciduous plant known for its large, lobed leaves and sweet soft flesh; botanically a syconium while detarium senegalensea is a nutritious fruit from West and Central Africa known for its sweet and sour pulp.
Brown Tap is produced or manufactured in Nigeria by Bifli Group. The central location for production is 10 Shekinah Ave, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State, Nigeria. The drink is sold on e-commerce or online marketing sites such as as eBay, Jiji, and Jumia.
