MONROVIA – Executive Protection Service (EPS) Director Col. Sam Gaye has described Liberia’s drug law as a “game changer,” saying it provides stronger legal tools to combat drug trafficking.
In a public statement, Gaye noted that drug trafficking is a non-bailable offense under Liberian law, meaning suspects remain in custody until trial and cannot secure release through what he described as “bogus or defective bail.”
He commended the Legislature for enacting what he called one of the world’s most stringent drug laws, praising lawmakers for their resolve in addressing the country’s narcotics crisis.
According to Gaye, the law also strengthens investigations by enabling prosecutors to obtain cooperation from lower-level suspects in efforts to identify and prosecute major figures behind drug trafficking networks.
