MONROVIA — The University of Liberia Faculty and Staff Association (ULFASA) has reaffirmed its decision to remain disengaged from academic and administrative activities, warning against attempts to undermine a resolution adopted by its General Assembly.
In a press statement issued Sunday, August 9, ULFASA said it has had no discussions on how its demands could be resolved and stressed that its July 17, 2026 resolution remains active and in force.
The association acknowledged a meeting reportedly called by the Minister of State concerning President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s commitment to the renovation and upgrading of the University of Liberia, describing the President’s initial action as appreciated.
However, ULFASA accused some individuals within the university of attempting to compel faculty and staff to return to work despite the association’s position.
The association described the alleged efforts as an attempt to undermine the decisions of its General Assembly and issued a final warning to those involved.
ULFASA said it is exploring administrative and legal options to ensure its demands are met while continuing engagement with the University’s Visitor to find a lasting solution.
It instructed all faculty and staff to remain disengaged, with offices and academic units closed until the General Assembly’s demands are fully addressed.
