Harbel, Margibi County — The Ministry of Labour, through its Lower Margibi County Labour Commissioner, Hon. Johnson Quaqua, has announced the commencement of the third batch of its Students Vocational Job Program.
The initiative is designed to engage students in meaningful vocational activities while contributing to national efforts to combat human trafficking and child labour.
The third batch follows the successful inclusion of the first and second batches, with participating students currently engaged at various institutions and workplaces across the county, including Farmington Hotel and Firestone Liberia Company.
According to Commissioner Quaqua, the program provides students with opportunities to acquire practical workplace experience while remaining engaged in safe, productive and educational activities during their school break.
The Commissioner is encouraging students, employers and other relevant stakeholders to actively support the initiative and work collectively to ensure that young people are protected from exploitation and provided with productive opportunities.
The ministry says continued collaboration among government institutions, private-sector employers, parents and communities remains important to strengthening efforts against child labour and human trafficking.
The launch of the third batch is expected to further expand opportunities for students in Lower Margibi and provide them with practical skills and exposure that could contribute to their future educational and career development.
The Ministry of Labour has reaffirmed its commitment to programs that promote youth empowerment, vocational development and the protection of children from harmful forms of labour.
