MONROVIA, Liberia — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has appointed Cllr. Betty M. Lamin-Blamo as Liberia’s new Minister of Justice, replacing outgoing Minister Oswald N. Tweh, as part of several new appointments affecting key government institutions.
The Executive Mansion announced Wednesday, September 2, that Cllr. Abrahim Boimah Sillah Sr. has also been appointed Solicitor General, replacing Augustine Fayiah.
According to the announcement, outgoing Justice Minister Tweh and former Solicitor General Fayiah will be reassigned to other positions within the government.
The appointments also affect the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, where Ms. Angel M. Morris has been named Deputy Minister for Public Affairs, while Mr. Harrison K. Sorsor has been appointed Assistant Minister for Research, Policy and Planning.
President Boakai also appointed Mr. Alex Chersia Grant as Commissioner of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC).
At the Ministry of Local Government, Mr. Christopher Ben Bailey has been appointed Superintendent of Grand Gedeh County.
Meanwhile, Mr. Benedict Yeke Harleysion Sr. has been reappointed Chairman of the Board of the National Transit Authority (NTA).
The Executive Mansion said the appointments are part of President Boakai’s ongoing efforts to strengthen key government institutions and improve the effective delivery of public services.
The statement noted that nominees whose positions require legislative approval will be subject to Senate confirmation.
The appointments were announced in a statement signed by Presidential Press Secretary Atty. Kula B.N. Fofana.
