MONROVIA, LIBERIA: Presidential nominee Mike B. Jabateh has expressed gratitude to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai Sr. following his nomination to serve as Acting Deputy Director General for Publicity at the National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA).
In a statement reacting to his nomination, Mr. Jabateh described the appointment as a new responsibility that requires greater commitment to public service, accountability, and the welfare of the Liberian people.
He extended appreciation to President Boakai for the confidence reposed in him, stressing that public service is not merely about holding a position or title, but a call to duty and service to the nation.
“The National Food Assistance Agency carries an important national responsibility in strengthening food assistance and ensuring that vulnerable Liberians are not left behind,” Jabateh stated.
He said the Agency plays a key role in coordinating food assistance between the Government of Liberia, international donors, and non-governmental organizations, while supporting initiatives aimed at improving food security and the well-being of vulnerable groups.
According to him, the NFAA’s responsibilities include implementing Home-Grown School Feeding initiatives, supporting vulnerable groups through food stamps and free meal programs, and advancing its 2026–2030 Strategic Framework.
The framework, he noted, includes the development of regional food storage hubs and partnerships with institutions such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP).
Jabateh said his new assignment represents an opportunity to contribute directly to a national cause that affects the lives and well-being of Liberians.
Reflecting on his years of engagement with citizens, particularly across Liberia’s Western Region, he said the experience has strengthened his understanding of the realities, concerns, and aspirations of communities.
He expressed confidence that his experience, combined with the responsibility entrusted to him, will enable him to contribute meaningfully to the work of the Agency.
The presidential nominee pledged to work with the Agency’s leadership and staff with dedication, professionalism, integrity, and a results-oriented mindset.
He said his focus will include strengthening public awareness of the NFAA’s programs, supporting effective food assistance coordination, and contributing to the objectives of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
Jabateh also expressed appreciation to Minister of State Hon. Samuel A. Stevquoah and Minister of State Without Portfolio Hon. Hadja Mamaka Bility for their support and encouragement.
He extended special thanks to Hon. Jeremiah Piah for his efforts and commitment toward making the opportunity possible, while also recognizing Hon. Dillon for valuable support.
“As I assume this responsibility, I remain conscious that the work begins now,” Jabateh said, pledging to serve with humility, accessibility, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to results.
He concluded by reaffirming his readiness to contribute to building a stronger, more food-secure, and inclusive Liberia.
“Leadership is not measured by the position we occupy but by the impact we make and the people we serve,” he stated.
