MONROVIA, Liberia, October 20, 2026 – The first batch of 150 Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) soldiers has departed for Morocco to take part in specialized guerrilla warfare training aimed at strengthening their combat skills and operational readiness.
The contingent left Monrovia after a brief send-off ceremony, where military officials described the program as a key step in the ongoing professionalization of the country’s armed forces.
The training, which is expected to cover irregular warfare tactics, field survival, reconnaissance, and small-unit operations, forms part of broader bilateral defense cooperation between Liberia and Morocco.
Officials say the soldiers are expected to return and share their skills with colleagues, helping to build a more capable and responsive military able to meet both domestic security needs and regional obligations.
Further batches are expected to follow as the program progresses.
