The Minister of Public Works, Mr. Roland Layfette Giddings, has acknowledged the deplorable condition of the road along the Zwedru route, accepting responsibility for the inconveniences faced by travelers and motorists.
Giddings said, “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform the general public, especially travelers to Zwedru, that we are experiencing a critical situation at the Duogee Town Swampy Section, approximately 20km from Toe Town. The critical section is measured at 100 meters of saturated, unstable earth with no diversion route possible. The Ministry is presently on site and is doing everything possible to stabilize the section. The Ministry accepts responsibility for the inconveniences caused and assures the public that the referenced situation will be handled speedily.”
It can be recalled that over US$22 million was initially allocated to make rural corridors, including Zwedru route, passable and accessible.
