The government has to accept one reality and urgently fix it:
That people are suffering because they don’t have jobs and income.
The World Bank is raising an alarm for the third time about joblessness across Liberia. A lot of Liberians are still unemployed, and people believed to be employed are doing very low-quality jobs and earning very little that cannot even address their basic needs.
A Summary of the World Bank Report:
What did the World Bank say in its November 3, 2026 Report?
“The quality of employment is very poor.”
“Approximately 90 percent of new jobs created in recent years have been in informal or low-productivity self-employment. Poverty falls when workers move into higher-productivity, higher-wage sectors, and it is this transition, not job creation per se, that Liberia’s growth pattern is failing to deliver.”
“Growth has not generated enough secure and productive employment.”
“Liberia’s recent economic gains are encouraging. The key challenge now is translating growth into opportunities and improvements in people’s lives.”
