From Ludo to Checker: Unity Party Launches New Bi-Weekly Gathering to Reconnect Partisans as Public Outcry for Jobs Persists

MONROVIA, Liberia: The Unity Party (UP) officially launched a bi-weekly initiative for partisans at the party’s National Headquarters on Broad Street on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The recurring event is designed as a platform for partisans, supporters, and sympathizers to reunite, reconnect, and renew their commitment to the party’s mission.

The launch was led by the National Secretary General Amos Tweh, with strong backing from the National Chairman Luther Tarpeh, both of whom were present throughout.

They listened to feedback from party faithful, discussed party progress, and outlined upcoming initiatives to strengthen the structures of the Unity Party nationwide.

The Montserrado County Chairman and other key county leaders also attended, and partisans enjoyed a mix of games such as ludo and checkers, according to an official statement released by the party.

Amid the prevailing job crisis in Liberia, some questioned the move, stating that “they need jobs and not to go and sit at the party headquarters playing ludo and checkers all day.” A partisan told Verity News, “Why should I go and sit at the party headquarters as a jobless partisan while others are working and taking care of their families?”
