With initial funding of 200K LRD allocated by Representative Prince Toles, District 8 has embarked on rigorous training activities in preparation for the upcoming LFA District Tournament.
The district’s soccer team is poised to make a strong showing this year, buoyed by meticulously crafted technical and steering committees that have devised a robust roadmap for success.
Enthusiastic sports lovers in the district eagerly anticipate witnessing the unwavering spirit of their players as they take on formidable opponents in the realm of football.
At the Saye Town football field early this morning at 7 AM, District 8 witnessed the emergence of spectacular players alongside technical staff who conducted rigorous selection exercises aimed at identifying the best talents to represent the district.
This initial phase of selection, supported by the office of Representative Prince Toles, saw the presentation of sports equipment including six balls, sets of bibs, and cones, valued at approximately 70,000 LRD (equivalent to over 300 USD).
The weeklong selection process, spearheaded by Technical Director Samuel Sumo, will scrutinize footballers meticulously to ensure only the most deserving make it into the squad.
E. Edward Singbe, newly appointed Team Manager of the District 8 soccer team, exuded optimism about this year’s prospects, emphasizing a more robust and result-oriented approach compared to previous years.
He attributed his optimism to the dedication and energy exhibited by both players and technical staff, aiming for a positive outcome in the tournament.
Singbe highlighted the openness of the selection process, noting that it prioritizes division players due to their superior skills in the game.
District 8 Team Manager expressed gratitude to Representative Prince Toles for the initial support, emphasizing that the quality of materials procured will significantly enhance the selection process and subsequent team performances.
“With Honorable Prince Toles’ support, we are determined to effect positive changes,” Singbe affirmed, pledging impartiality in player selection based purely on merit.
“In this selection process, what you demonstrate here will determine your eligibility to play for the team,” Singbe emphasized during an interview with Media and Publicity Officer Zac T. Sherman.
Singbe clarified that the district’s selection process does not preclude national or higher-level team players, welcoming their participation if they declare their intention to represent District 8.
He called upon all first division players to avail themselves for selection, urging football stakeholders and citizens of the district to rally behind the team and ensure a resounding victory.
Historically, District 8 has faced setbacks in the annual LFA District Tournament, often attributed to inadequate preparation, support, and the selection of players.
This year, however, the district remains optimistic about turning the tide and bringing joy to football enthusiasts across the sporting arena.
