The Ministry of Education of Liberia has officially launched a National Youth Service Program, a transformative initiative aimed at engaging young people in meaningful service across the country.
The program, unveiled today during a high-profile ceremony at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, is designed to empower Liberian youth, foster civic responsibility, and contribute to national development.
Minister of Education, Dr Jarso Maley Jallah led the launch event, emphasizing the critical role that the youth play in shaping the future of Liberia.
The program, according to Dr Jallah, is a strategic effort to harness the energy and potential of young Liberians by involving them in community development projects, educational support initiatives, and public service activities.
During the official launch event, Dr Jallah praised UNICEF and other partnering institutions for their unwavering commitment to supporting the Ministry’s Mission.
In addition to practical work experience, the National Youth Service Program will include training in leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic education, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to contribute to their communities and the nation at large.
The National Youth Service Program is set to begin this year, with the first cohort of participants expected to start their service in the coming months.
The Ministry of Education has outlined a detailed plan for the program’s implementation, including ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure it meets its objectives.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance the role of youth in national development and to create pathways for young Liberians to contribute to the growth and stability of their communities.
