Monrovia-Liberia: The Justice in Chambers, His Honor Yussif Kaba, has halted the ongoing US$6.2M Corruption Case involving former senior government officials including ex-Finance Minister and ex-Solicitor General Nyenati Tuan.
The Justice in Chambers decided on August 24, 2024, leading to the citation of Solicitor General Augustine Fayiah through the office of the Clerk of the Supreme Court, Cllr. Sam Mamuu.
“By directive of His Honor Yussif D. Kaba, Associate Justice presiding in Chambers, you are hereby cited to a conference with His Honor on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the hour of 11:30 in connection with the above-captioned case,” the citation stated.
Justice Kaba has ordered the Solicitor General to stay all further proceedings and/or actions relating to the case pending the outcome of the conference.
It can be recalled in July 2024 that the government of Liberia charged several former officials for allegedly committing Economic Sabotage, Theft and/or Illegal Disbursement and Expenditure of Public Money, Theft of Property, Criminal Facilitation, and Criminal Conspiracy.
The defendants in this high-profile case are Samuel D. Tweah, former Minister of Finance and Development Planning; Cllr. Nyenati Tuan, former Acting Minister of Justice; Stanley S. Ford, former Director General of the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA); D. Moses P. Cooper, former Comptroller of the FIA; and Jefferson Karmoh, former National Security Advisor.
The latest decision of Justice Kaba means that there will be a temporary stay on all legal proceedings of the case pending outcome of the conference.
