MSF Donates Over $151K in Life-Saving Medical Supplies to Jackson F. Doe Hospital

Tappita, Nimba – Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has made a substantial donation of medical supplies including essential drugs and medical equipment valued at over 151,000 euros to the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital.

This is the second significant donation made by MSF to the referral hospital in Nimba County.

Among the donated items are a plasma separator, tube centrifuge, tube hemolyzer, densitometer, Densimat autoclave, microscope, manual counter scale, refrigerator storage boxes, surgical gowns, glove box, and other essential medical supplies.

This significant contribution aims to further bolster patient care and operational capacity at the facility, ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible to the residents of Tappita, the northeastern region of Liberia, as well as neighboring countries.

The initial phase of the donation took place on August 2, 2024, when MSF delivered medical equipment along with various assorted medical supplies valued at over 160,000 euros to the hospital.

This initial support marked a pivotal moment for the new administration of the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital, reflecting its commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for the local community and surrounding areas.

Receiving the donation on Monday, September 24, Dr. Victor Z. Kaizer, the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, extolled MSF for the generous donation.

Dr. Kaizer noted that the donation is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the community.

“The donation is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our community. As we bid farewell to MSF, we are committed to carrying forward the legacy of healthcare provision they have established here in Liberia,” he emphasized.

He added that the medical equipment and drugs will not only aid in treating patients more effectively but also bolster the capacity of the hospital’s staff to provide high-quality care.

For his part, the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Siafa Sando, highlighted that the donation is timely and will serve the medical needs of the community. “This generous donation will serve the needs of our community for a long time,” he stated.

Since its inception, the management of Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital has worked tirelessly to elevate the standard of healthcare available in the region. Their efforts have focused on expanding service delivery, enhancing staff training, and ensuring that patients have access to quality medical car.
