Amid speculations that President Joseph Boakai is soon to institute harsher measures against some of his officials, the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Youth League has listed four high-profile government officials, demanding their immediate dismissals.
The CDC Youth League’s statement comes just days after concerned partisans and supporters of the Unity Party (UP) government registered their displeasure and called for the immediate suspension of government officials over bad governance and corruption existing in the Boakai-led administration.
While the opposition party’s youth league voiced what they described as massive corruption and looting of state resources, they wasted no time in naming Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman as one to be immediately dismissed.
Their call for his dismissal, according to them, is due to an increase in police brutality and crime rates against the citizens of the country.
The CDC Youth League believes that under the leadership of IG Gregory Coleman, citizens are vulnerable to crimes such as murder, theft, and armed robbery, thus leading to an unsafe environment for citizens.
In addition to IG Coleman, the political movement is also demanding the immediate dismissal of Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Sylvester Grigsby.
According to the Youth League, Sylvester Grigsby is misusing his power to siphon state resources and influence illegal practices within the government.
The CDC Youth League, in a press statement, pointed to the Minister’s alleged involvement in the Millions of Yellow Machines Saga, as well as his authorizing the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASCORP) to purchase vehicles outside of the law.
Another government official named for dismissal was Commerce and Industry Minister Amin Modad.
The youth league vented their anger, stating that the Minister’s alleged involvement in a deal to acquire a vehicle costing $100,000 is counterproductive to public service.
“This is a complete mockery of the people you lied to, claiming that you were their protector.”
Moreover, the Congress for Democratic Change Youth League wants the Minister of Public Works to be fired.
Their request is based on the assertion that this minister cannot account for $22 million intended to rehabilitate roads across the country under Boakai’s Hundred Days Deliverable Programs.
The CDC Youth League alleged that these officials are not serving the public’s interest, but rather orchestrating plans for their self-gain at the expense of the masses.
