NPA Welcomes PMAWCA Delegation to Enhance Port Management in Liberia

The National Port Authority (NPA) recently hosted a high-level delegation led by Mr. Jean Marie Koffi, Secretary General of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA), at its headquarters in the Freeport of Monrovia.
 
A release dated October 3, 2024, is quoting the NPA Managing Director Sekou A. M. Dukuly as expressing his enthusiasm for the visit of PMAWCA delegation, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation in fostering sustainable development and improving infrastructure. 
 
Dukuly noted that such engagements are crucial for tackling illegal shipping activities and enhancing the competitiveness of ports in the region.
 
For his part,  PMAWCA Secretary General Koffi extolled NPA Managing Director Dukuly for his leadership role  and highlighted the significant progress being made at the NPA.
 
Koffi highlighted that his visit aimed to strengthen collaboration and exchange best practices in port management, with a focus on ensuring efficient services while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
 
The release further that following the discussions at the NPA, the delegation toured APM Terminals, where they were welcomed by Managing Director Clay Crain.
 
Founded in 1972 under the Economic Commission for Africa, PMAWCA aims to improve port services across its 24 member ports from Mauritania to Angola. 
 
The organization seeks to facilitate cooperation among ports, ensuring effective operations and sustainable socio-economic development.
 
Current projects under PMAWCA include the Partnership for Sustainable Ports, which focuses on enhancing the environmental and social impacts of port activities, and the IPCOEA initiative, aimed at streamlining administrative and customs processes in port operations.
PMAWCA visit underscores a commitment to fostering collaboration in the maritime sector, promising advancements for Liberia’s port infrastructure and operational efficiency.
