China Rail and Bridge Corporation is mobilizing for the construction of the Tubman Boulevard Overpass project. This follows a recent demonstration of plans by China Rail and Bridge Corporation, a leading construction firm contracted by the Chinese Government to construct two overpasses along Tubman Boulevard. The company announced plans to mobilize equipment and personnel to kick-start the project.
According to a release issued by the Ministry of Public Works, the initiative is set to commence in February 2025. The release noted that during a courtesy visit today, Wednesday, October 9, representatives from China Rail and Bridge Corporation discussed logistical preparations to ensure a smooth start to the project.
The overpasses are expected to enhance traffic flow and improve overall transportation infrastructure in the area. “This project is a significant step towards improving transportation efficiency and safety for the community, as we are committed to delivering high-quality construction services and look forward to working closely with local stakeholders,” remarked CRBC’s Head of Delegation.
While the company was concerned about the urgency of the demolition required to begin the project, Deputy Minister Price D. Tambah assured the contractor that the demolition exercises along the project corridor will begin immediately. He noted that most of the properties have already been compensated by the Liberian Government.
In a remark, Minister Roland Layfette Giddings extended gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for the milestone project and stressed that the project aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure across the region. The Minister stated that the project aims to promote economic development and better connectivity. Minister Giddings further assured CRBC that the Ministry is ready to provide all technical support that may be required during the project’s duration, re-emphasizing that demolition will commence in October of this year.
