Mustapha I. Raji, President of the Liberia Football Association, while delivering a key note address stressed the need for young Liberians to embrace vision coupled with focus.
Speaking at the 8th Graduation and Commencement Convocation of the Sis Iye School System in Montserrado County on Saturday, October 12, 2024, the LFA President said such step is essential in pursuing dreams.
In his address, Raji encouraged graduates to be vibrant and vision-minded, stating, “As you step into this new chapter of your lives, I urge you to remain focused on your goals and embrace every opportunity that comes your way.
The world needs your passion and creativity.” He emphasized the importance of resilience and determination in overcoming challenges.
Raji also addressed the Ministry of Education, calling for the empowerment of teachers with effective tools for engaging students.
He remarked, “Education is the foundation upon which we build our future. It is essential that our educators are equipped with the necessary resources to inspire and empower the youth of our nation.”
In a significant gesture of support for the school and its students, Raji announced a commitment to provide twelve scholarships each academic year for the next five years for students involved in soccer.
He stated, “I believe in investing in our youth. These scholarships will help talented students pursue their dreams while balancing their education with their passion for sports.”
He kicked off this initiative with an initial funding of L$300,000, along with the donation of two computers to enhance the school’s learning environment.
Raji also encouraged parents to prioritize their children’s education, even amid financial challenges. “I understand that times may be tough, but I implore you to continue investing in your children’s future. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and opening doors to opportunities,” he said.
The event was a celebration of achievement and a reminder of the vital role that education plays in shaping the future of Liberia.
