Five Charged with multiple Crimes including Armed Robbery

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged and forwarded to the Monrovia City Court five defendants linked to a violent armed robbery in Momboe Town, Bushrod Island.

The five defendants now face charges of Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal Facilitation, Armed Robbery, and Theft of Property.

According to the police charge sheet, the incident occurred on February 24, 2024, at the home of Comfort S. Yan and her husband, Frankey Yan, a Chinese national on Bushrod Island.

Police investigation reveals that the couple was asleep when a group of armed men entered their home with brandishing shotguns and cutlasses, and stole over US$3,000 worth of valuables, including an iPhone 14 Pro Max, a gold chain set, a large solar panel battery, a Samsung Note 4, and cash.

The investigation took a significant turn on October 3, 2024, when Yan’s father-in-law reported a suspicious group trying to break into the family compound.

Police responded quickly and intercepted the suspects fleeing in a yellow taxi.

During the arrest, LNP officers discovered three cutlasses, a steel cutter, a pin bar, a bottle of sulfuric acid, and various keys inside the vehicle.

The five defendants are identified as Emmanuel Johnson (alias Wallace), Alfred Lablah (alias Puyol), Malachi Eze (alias Promise), Junior Bundor (alias Prince), and Leemu Tabah.

Police investigation further disclosed that the defendants were involved in both the October incident and the February robbery, where they accessed the home through the front door after jumping over the fence.

They now face charges of Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal Facilitation, Armed Robbery, and Theft of Property.

Police authorities are also pursuing additional suspects connected to the crimes who still remain at large.

The case has been forwarded to court for prosecution as police continue their investigation.
The Liberia National Police is urging residents of the Momboe Town community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local authorities.

The rapid response from law enforcement highlights their commitment to ensuring community safety and timeliness in response.
